Trusting the Good Shepherd: Four Truths

Nov 16, 2025

Psalm 23 is one of the most cherished passages in all of Scripture—but one that many of us risk becoming too familiar with. In this message, “Trusting the Good Shepherd: Four Truths,” we are invited to see this psalm anew through the lens of Jesus Christ, our Good, Great, and Chief Shepherd.

This sermon walks through four foundational truths about the Good Shepherd’s care:

He Leads and Feeds His Flock (vv. 1–3) – The Shepherd provides rest, nourishment, and renewal for weary souls. He knows the safest paths and leads us there for His name’s sake.

He Protects His Flock (v. 4) – Even in life’s darkest valleys, we have no reason to fear because our Shepherd is with us. His rod and staff defend, guide, and comfort.

He Mends the Wounds of His Flock (v. 5) – The Good Shepherd tends to our hurts, anoints us with healing oil, and prepares a place of safety and abundance even in the presence of enemies.

He Promises His Presence Forever (v. 6) – His goodness and mercy will pursue us all our days, and He secures for us an eternal home in His presence.

Through these truths, we see that Jesus is the only fully qualified Shepherd-King—faithful to lead, restore, protect, and provide for His people. No matter what season of life we’re in—green pastures or shadowed valleys—we can rest in His unchanging care.
